The Metal City is the world's largest factory in the world. The factory is city-size (hence it's name) and it is suspended over the sea of Lava and is near the peak of a very large and tall volcano. Most of the Fire Nation's technology and weapons comes from here (except for Airships, because their fuel cells explode when in hot temperatures or near fire).
